CLEAN SWEEP: Pupils from Plas-y-Felin and Fochriw Primary Schools are tackling waste

Pupils from Fochriw Primary and Plas-y-Felin Primary Schools have teamed up to tackle waste around Caerphilly.

Children from both schools’ eco-committees spotted a significant amount of rubbish dumped in the Nant Bargoed whilst on a walk around the town, and enlisted the help of Caerphilly County Borough Council and Keep Wales Tidy to remove the unsightly mess.

The spring clean effort retrieved a large amount of waste from the river, including a car bumper, gear stick and alternator, as well as several bags worth of alcohol cans and food packaging.

In September 2015 an environmental link was established between the schools.
