Caerphilly-based housing association United Welsh has been awarded a two-year contract to deliver a health and wellbeing service on behalf of NHS Wales in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
The aim of the service, called ‘Wellbeing 4U’, is to help people lead healthier lives by encouraging them to improve their diet, exercise more and kick harmful habits such as substance and alcohol misuse.
Improving wellbeing for its tenants and the wider community has been part of United Welsh’s business strategy for a number of years.
Hugh Irwin, of United Welsh’s Thrive team, said: “Social landlords such as United Welsh have long contributed to the aims of statutory agencies such as the NHS through the provision of specialist housing, support and befriending schemes.
“Our staff are well-trained to engage with people who are in a challenging social situation with lifestyle habits that have a detrimental impact on their health, and we already work effectively with hard to reach groups in our existing services – leading to positive outcomes for individuals and communities.”
Good God, they can`t even properly manage the homes they rent out.
They spend money meant for providing homes on other projects – Disgracful. and not and end to these issues, it needs a proper government scrutiny on how and where the money has been spent, and not on housing or the provision or dealing with housing issues.
