Motorcycle Club members turn out in force for charity ride in memory of Blackwood’s Trudy Jones

News | | Published: 16:51, Tuesday May 3rd, 2016.

A motorcycle club has paid tribute to Trudy Jones, from Blackwood, with a charity ride to mark a year since her death in the Tunisia terror attacks.

Around 400 riders from the Valleys Commandos Motorcycle Club turned out to commemorate mother-of-four Trudy, who was among 30 Britons killed by gunman Seifiddine Rezgui in Sousse on June 26, 2015.

Described by her family as “a caring person who put everyone else before herself”. The 51-year-old care home worker had been holidaying with friends and had been due to return home a few days after the attack.

Organised by family of Ms Jones and members of the Valleys Commandos, riders revved from the former council offices in Pontllanfraith across to the Market Place in Blackwood.

The New Foresters pub later played host to live music and a barbecue.

The commemorative event raised money for the Help for Heroes and Macmillan charities, and while a total has yet to be formally announced, last year’s ride raised around £300.
