A 21-year-old social work student from Maesycymmer has been crowned 2016’s Miss Caerphilly.

Amanda Lever was awarded the title at the grand final of Miss Wales 2016, which took place at the Princess Royal Theatre in Port Talbot recently.

In total the competition raised more than £22,000 for the Miss World charity, Beauty With A Purpose.

Amanda said: “It is an honour to represent the region. I intend to use the title to do my friends, family and the community proud. Miss Wales has been a fantastic experience for me and I really would urge more girls from the area to get involved next year.”

Paula Abbandonato, who organises the Miss Wales event, said: “The whole weekend was an incredible experience and a real celebration of the achievements of all the finalists who have worked so hard in the run-up to the big night.”
