Two men have been arrested and released on bail after a car collided with a pedestrian in Crosskeys and failed to stop.

The silver Vauxhall Corsa hit the 24-year-old pedestrian on Risca Road, close to Crosskeys College, in the early hours of Sunday May 15.

The man, from Ebbw Vale, was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital with serious leg injuries, and is now in a stable condition.

A 20-year-old man from the Blackwood area and a 16-year-old man from the Risca area were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury, failing to stop at a road traffic collision and perverting the course of justice.

They have both been bailed pending further inquiries.

Officers investigating the incident are eager to speak to any motorist or pedestrian who was in the Risca or Crosskeys area at around midnight on Saturday May 14, into the morning of Sunday May 15, who may have seen something suspicious.

Anyone with information can call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log: 8 15/05/16.
