A 23-year-old man from Cardiff has been arrested and charged in connection with a distraction burglary in Trinant in April.

The man was arrested by Gwent Police over the weekend of May 14 and 15 and subsequently charged with fraud by false representation, driving whilst disqualified and driving with no insurance.

On Monday April 18, two men conned their way into an elderly lady’s home on Trinant Terrace and stole £180 by calling at the house several times pretending to be from Trading Standards.

The men told the elderly resident that they needed to complete work at the home.

The man, who had also breached his licence conditions after being released from prison has now been remanded back to prison and will appear in court in June.
