Caerphilly roads set for resurfacing works

News | | Published: 11:00, Tuesday May 31st, 2016.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has announced a £2.35 million investment in resurfacing roads around the borough.

The council has highlighted 34 sites which will be targeted in the first phase of work.

Existing potholes will be filled and repaired in preparation for the scheduled work.

The first stage of the resurfacing work, which will begin on Monday June 6, is estimated to take three weeks to complete, weather dependant.

The council will also employ what they describe as an “innovative technique” to resurfacing.

The technique, known as CAUTS, embeds loose chippings to the road surface with a locking spray.

Cllr Tom Williams, Cabinet Member for Transportation and Highways said: “I’m sure this investment will be welcomed by motorists across the area as it will lead to a noticeable improvement to our highway network.”

More money wasted paying the usual cowboys way over the odds for a shoddy job on a road that won’t even need resurfacing only for it to made worse by the cowboys not doing it properly causing large puddles of water to form on the surface every time it rains.

I have noticed the same thing, the recent re-surfacing of the pavement on St. Martin’s Rd. is very poor. I am very much for road repair but not if it is done badly. In any case this money is far less than has been paid for certain senior officer to enjoy ‘gardening’, and their replacements to cover, over the last three years.
