Newly-elected Labour AM for Islwyn Rhianon Passmore chose her former school Cwmcarn Primary to make her first public engagement.

Addressing the school assembly, Ms Passmore fielded questions from the children about her time at Cwmcarn Primary as well as what it is like to be an Assembly Member.

Ms Passmore said: “I deliberately wanted to begin my time as AM for Islwyn with a visit to the heart of the community that made me. It was fantastic that the pupils were so welcoming and had such wonderful questions about democracy and my new role in Islwyn.

“Speaking to the staff at the school I value how hard they are working and I am dedicated to supporting our great teaching workforce to give our children the best start in life.”
