Police catch schoolboys responsible for month-long harassment of Blackwood family

News | | Published: 15:54, Thursday June 2nd, 2016.

Eight schoolboys from Blackwood have been given anti-social behaviour referrals by Gwent Police after being found responsible of terrorising a local family over a month-long period.

The family, who live in the Bryn Dern area, phoned police several times in May to report incidents of eggs, stones and coins being thrown over their garden fence.

The family includes two small children, one of whom is disabled, and as a result of the constant and regular disruption from items landing in the garden, the mother prevented them from playing outside in fear of them getting hit.

After regular police patrols, help from local businesses, local schools, crime prevention volunteers, the victims’ own CCTV and an operation by Gwent Police, eight schoolboys aged between 10 and 14-years-old from Blackwood were identified as being responsible.

All the boys concerned had anti-social behaviour referrals, while four received harassment warnings.
