A busy route into Caerphilly was closed on Thursday June 2 after a collision left a cyclist with serious injuries.

Emergency services attended the scene at Thornhill Road, outside the Miller and Carter restaurant in Cardiff at around 7pm, where a car and cyclist had collided.

South Wales Police closed the road shortly after arriving, while the cyclist received medial treatment from paramedics from Welsh Ambulance Service before being taken to University Hospital of Wales with serious injuries.

The injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, and Thornhill Road has since been reopened.

Witnesses are asked to call South Wales Police on 101, quoting reference: 1600202554.

This is the road that the council’s LDP intends to empty a ‘by-pass’ road onto in order to justify building thousands of houses on the countryside. When an incident like this happens all the traffic from these new developments would then squeeze down Van road, through the town and exit via St. Martin’s Road and Nantgarw Rd. Some plan.
