Britpop stars Ocean Colour Scene and 1980s singer Tony Hadley have announced two consective gigs at Caerphilly Castle.

Ocean Colour Scene, who had hits such as The Day We Caught the Train and The Riverboat Song, will be marking the 20th anniversary of the release of their Moseley Shoals album.

On, Saturday September 18 in Caerphilly, they will perform the album from start to finish, following sell-out gigs earlier this year in London, Birmingham and Glasgow, and across Australia.

The following night, Tony Hadley front man of iconic British legends Spandau Ballet, will close the weekend of concerts within the inner walls of the castle.

Hadley recorded 20 singles and eight hit albums with Spandau Ballet before embarking on a solo career that produced another seven albums and more hit singles.

His show features songs from more recent times, in addition to pop classics like True, Gold, and Through The Barricades.

The two concerts are being staged by independent Welsh music promoter Orchard Entertainment.

Dave Driscoll, from Orchard, said: “It’s great to work with Cadw on what is a new venue for us.

“We’ve staged gigs at Cardiff Castle and this summer again in Pembroke Castle, but Caerphilly Castle is iconic, and we’re excited to bring such a strong line-up to the town in what will be the biggest gig in the biggest castle.”

Tickets are available from Blackwood Miners Institute and Ticketline UK in Cardiff.
