Caerphilly-based Thomas Carroll Group plc has announced the appointment of a new boss.

The insurance, financial planning and health and safety company, has revealed that Rhys Thomas has taken up the role of Chief Executive.

Son of 1972 co-founder Evan Thomas, Mr Thomas joined Thomas Carroll as an Insurance Account Executive in 1993 and is stepping-up from the position of Managing Director of award-winning Thomas Carroll Brokers

Mr Thomas will oversee business activity across all group divisions and regions.

Currently living in Groesfaen with wife Michelle and two daughters, Chloe and Amy, Mr Thomas has seen the group grow from a small office in Llanishen, Cardiff, to offices in Swansea, Pembrokeshire, and more recently London, in addition to the Caerphilly headquarters.

Mr Thomas said: “It is an exciting time for the group with our reputation steadily growing across the regions that we serve.

“Thomas Carroll has enjoyed sustainable, profitable growth over the years and I am looking forward to the challenge of developing the business further whilst maintaining our unique culture.

“Our team is our greatest asset and we are always looking to recruit and retain quality people – it is enjoyable to see and be part of the next generation.”

Commenting on the appointment, Group Chairman John Moore MBE said: “For me, to prolong the winning business culture and further the engagement of our excellent people, it is always preferable to promote from within.

“Rhys, having contributed specifically to our growth, is very much with our people, passionately enthusiastic about our independent and chartered achievements and demonstrates an expertise around all our group services.”
