Oakdale Community Centre has had several solar panels installed on its roof in a bid to cut the building’s energy costs and make it more environmentally-friendly.
The installation of the panels was made possible with funding from the Oakdale Community Benefit Fund.
The grant aims to encourage renewable energy use throughout the community, and is funded by Partnerships for Renewables, which operate the two wind turbines in the Oakdale area.
Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member for Member for Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning and Sustainable Development, said: “It’s perfectly fitting that a large scale environmental project is helping local groups to reduce their carbon footprint and make significant savings in their running costs, ensuring the centre is available for all to use.”
