Two toddler charity walks in Caerphilly have raised nearly £900 for children’s charity Barnardo’s.

The Big Toddle is the UK’s largest fundraising event for children under five, and both Abigail’s Day Nursery and Tots Play Caerphilly took part for the charity.

Tots Play children – dressed in animal costumes, parents, and childminders alike got together on Sunday June 26 at the Old Library on Nantgarw Road for a walk around Morgan Jones Park in the sun, and raised close to £500.

The animal-inspired stroll was co-organised by Samantha Johnson of Tots Play and Angela Crabtree of The Old Library.

Samantha Johnson said: “The Big Toddle is a great way to get everyone from the local community together to raise money for a fantastic cause. We all had a great time, especially the children.”

Caerphilly-based Abigail’s Day Nursery also held their own toddle on Friday June 24, and raised a total of £396.42.

Barnardo’s Chief Executive, Javed Khan said: “Thank you to everyone who took part in a Barnardo’s Big Toddle this year.

“Your generosity will help us continue to support the most disadvantaged children in the UK.

“Since the Big Toddle started in 1997, you have helped Barnardo’s raise more than £14m.”
