Four released on police bail in connection with distraction crimes

News | | Published: 12:00, Friday July 15th, 2016.

Four people from Cardiff have been released on police bail after they were arrested in connection with a series of distraction crimes across Caerphilly County Borough.

Last month, Gwent Police appealed for information following eight distraction incidents that occurred at several locations.

Residents were targeted on:
– Heol Barri, Caerphilly.
– Wingfield Crescent and Glenview Terrace, Llanbradach.
– Heol Isaf, Nelson.
– Tydfil Road, Bedwas.
– Gladstone Street, Abertillery.
– Coronation Street, Trethomas.
– Newport Road, Magor.

The incidents involved a man calling at properties claiming that damage had been caused to rear windows with a catapult, and asking for access to take a look.

Police arrested three men aged 23, 36 and 50, and woman aged 30, from the Cardiff area, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary.

They have been released on police bail until September, pending further enquiries.
