Pupils and teachers from Rhymney Comprehensive School got a chance to see Welsh politics up close and personal on Tuesday, July 12, as they took a trip to the Senedd in Cardiff Bay.
Pupils watched First Minister’s Questions from the public gallery and afterwards, had the chance to chat with their local Assembly Member, Dawn Bowden.
The Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney AM said: “It is one of the most rewarding parts of my job as an Assembly Member, getting the opportunity to meet with young people from my constituency.
“Particularly at this time when the political world seems to be so turbulent it is refreshing to be able to listen to the views of groups of school pupils such as those from Rhymney Comprehensive.”
Mrs Bowden has long been an advocate for extending the voting age to include 16 and 17-year-olds.
