Pupils at Cwmaber Infants School raised £1,550 through a sponsored walk – the school’s most successful sponsored event to date.

The school raised the amount for Trinity Fields School in Ystrad Mynach, whose pupils have a wide range of learning disabilities.

Held within Cwmaber Infants’ School grounds, the sponsored walk saw more than 100 pupils, staff, parents and governors descend and take part in the fundraising as part of an opening ceremony for their Sports Day.

An assembly was held after the sponsored walk, where Ian Elliot, headteacher of Trinity Fields, was presented with a cheque
The money raised will be put towards a special wheelchair swing for the pupils to enjoy.

Mr Elliot said: “I am so overwhelmed by the response from Cwmaber Infants. I thoroughly enjoyed the pupils’ performances during the assembly and I would love to return to teach the children some sign language to use with their singing.”

Jayne Price, headteacher of Cwmaber Infants, said: “I am absolutely delighted at the generosity and kindness of our school community.”
