A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a two-car collision on Newport Road, Bedwas.

Emergency services were called at around 11.30pm on Friday, July 29, after a crash between a silver Ford Fiesta and a blue Lexus.

South Wales Fire and Rescue crews from Caerphilly and Whitchurch were called to cut one of the drivers out.

The driver of the Lexus, a 36-year-old man from the Caerphilly area, was taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, near Llantrisant, with back and chest pain, while the 19-year-old male driver of the Fiesta, also from the Caerphilly area, was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport with back pain.

Gwent Police said both have now been discharged.
