Tommy Cooper fans from Middlesex, Gloucester, Newport and around Caerphilly County Borough attended the recent Annual General Meeting of the Tommy Cooper Society.
To mark what would have been the Caerphilly-born magician’s 95th birthday, the society held a celebratory lunch in March at Coleg y Cymoedd in Ystrad Mynach.
At the AGM, the society agreed that a similar lunch will be held next year and that Cooper’s daughter Vicky will be invited.
The meeting also saw the announcement of plans to present a Tommy Cooper trophy to Bedwas Junior School.
The society’s founding chairman, the late Cllr Angus Donaldson MBE, was a governor at the school.
It was also revealed that three years since its launch, the Tommy’s Ticker campaign – named so after the comedian collapsed on stage from a heart attack in 1984 – has provided seven defibrillators to public buildings with an eighth in the pipeline.
