Appeal after rogue traders scam Bargoed man

News | | Published: 14:37, Monday August 15th, 2016.

Gwent Police is appealing for information after a Bargoed man was conned by a rogue trader.

At around 3pm on Thursday June 16, a man called at a house on Henry Street, Bargoed, offering gutter cleaning services for a set price. The resident was also told that the roof needed work done to it, and that it could all be done for a set cash price.

The rogue trader and three associates stayed at the resident’s house while he withdrew cash for the work. One of the men met the man in a nearby alleyway upon his return, where the cash was handed over, and the resident was told the men would be back to complete the work the following day.

They did not return.

One of the men is described as being of large build, wearing a baseball cap and black gloves, another was a of big build with glasses, and the other two were younger. They were all wearing black tops with a company name on the breast and the back.

Officers are investigating and ask that anyone with information relating to this calls 101 quoting log 332 16/06/16.
