RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after a dog that was left for dead on Fochriw mountain roadside was put down.
The dog, a white German Shepherd was was found dumped on the side of a road, wrapped in a piece of carpet in a critical state and was found on Friday, August 12.
The dog was taken straight to Summerhill Vets, Newport, where it remained in intensive care over the weekend. Despite receiving round-the-clock treatment for organ failure, it was decided that the kindest course of action was to euthanise the animal to prevent further suffering.
An RSPCA spokesperson said: “This was a very difficult decision which was heartbreaking for the staff caring for him, but one taken with the best welfare of the dog in mind.
“We are very grateful to the kind passer-by for rescuing this poor dog, who was suffering a horrible end to his life after being so callously dumped on his own in this way.
“Unfortunately, every year the RSPCA is called out to rescue hundreds of animals across England and Wales after their owners abandon them and in many cases leave them for dead. We urge anyone with any information about how this dog came to be dumped to call us on 0300 123 8018, in strictest confidence. We specifically would be keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the animal being taken from a car and left.”
So This is what society has evolved into. Animals being thrown away like rubbish, what next, children???. This is an Absolutely unnecessary, and a callous act from a so called civilised role model citizen/s. I really hope that the RSPCA can locate the owner and prosecute the scum to the full extent of the law.
Whatever cretinous lowlife is responsible for this poor dogs suffering they are not worthy of being called human beings, someone, a neighbour, a friend ( no scrub that one they wont have any) must know who owned a golden German Shepard dog, Not many of these about, IT BELONGED TO SOMEONE. who does`nt have it anymore, MUST come forward and give confidential information to the RSPCA or the Gwent Police Animal Officer. Or live with its suffering on their consciences.
This dog was once a companion to someone who it gave its loyalty to, who it
look to for care, only to be dumped, for goodness knows how long, on its
own in severe pain and distress, probably loyally waiting for its owner
to return. I am ashamed to belong to the same species as this person?.
