Ystrad Mynach Library is set to close for over a month as it undergoes a major refurbishment.
The library, on High Street, will close its doors to members of the public on Monday, September 5, while £48,000 worth of improvement works take place.
It is scheduled to reopen on Monday, October 10.
The improvement works will include new furniture, shelving and central staff desk, as well as new carpets and a fresh decor throughout the interior.
The refurbishment will also ensure the important town centre amenity is able to offer modern facilities for years to come.
Caerphilly County Borough Council has reminded residents they are able to access a wide range of services and computer facilities at any of the county borough’s other libraries while Ystrad Mynach is closed.

Another LABOUR COUNCIL initiative for the benefit of the community, others, may have closed it, like for instance The Welsh Nationalists. ( Plaid Cymru) who have done nothing but reduce the level of community facilities, or increased the prices to the community for using civic facilities when they were in power in Caerphilly, never again give them the opportunity to do so, the Caerphilly CBC should be supported in next years elections so that they can build on the tremendous success of thier stewardship of the borough over the last four or five years. “Always putting the Citizens interests First”.
Sorry, but always putting themselves first is what I have experienced….don’t do as we do, do as we say is their motto. Why does the library close for an hour at lunchtimes? Times have changed since the 1970’s but sadly local councils haven’t moved with the times – councils should stop trying to deliver services, they couldn’t deliver cold drinks on a hot day efficiently.
