RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after an extremely thin stray dog found in Risca was put down.
The sandy white coloured dog (pictured) was found wandering in Fernlea, Risca, on Sunday September 4 by a passer-by.
The dog was taken to a local vet in what was described as “an extremely poor and emaciated condition”, and an examination discovered a severe heart murmur.
The dog was so weak that its legs kept buckling from underneath it, and despite best efforts over a 24 hour period, was euthanised by the vet to prevent further suffering.
RSPCA inspector Annie Simmonds said: “This is such a sad incident. This poor dog – aged around nine years – was in a considerable amount of pain and she was extremely emaciated.
“She didn’t have a collar or microchip, so we don’t know who she belongs to or where she has come from.
