A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released without charge.

Gwent Police arrested a 30-year-old man from the Blackwood area on Friday, September 9, following an attack on a woman on Saturday, September 3.

Emergency services were called to an address on Waunllwyn Crescent, Blackwood, at around 4.15am following reports of a woman with serious injuries.

The woman, aged 26, was taken to University Hospital of Wales Cardiff where she currently remains in a stable condition.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said the investigation was continuing and that a 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder had been released and that investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with information about the case can call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log 117 03/09/16.

An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that the arrested man was released on police bail. We are happy to correct this inaccuracy.
