Thousands of music lovers descended on Caerphilly Castle on the weekend to enjoy two concerts in a first for the 13th Century building.

Nineties’ Britpop band Ocean Colour Scene celebrated the 20th anniversary of the release of their Moseley Shoals album by performing it live on Saturday, while the following night, Eighties’ singer Tony Hadley, of Spandau Ballet, entertained the crowds.

Independent Welsh music promoter Orchard Entertainment, which put on the two shows, said they were both a success with Ocean Colour Scene having a sell-out crowd of 1,800.

Orchard Director Pablo Janczur said: “This was our first promotion at Caerphilly Castle and it went really well – big crowds, a great atmosphere and a stunning setting. We hope to repeat our successful collaboration with Cadw in the near future.”
