A teenager from Oakdale is set to follow in the footsteps of Adele and Amy Winehouse, after starting a course at the prestigious BRIT School.

Alice Mee-Bishop, 17, auditioned for a place at the performing arts school earlier this year, and was accepted as one of just two students living outside of London.

Noted for its famous alumni of stars, the BRIT School offers a range of courses in music, dance, theatre, film and art.

Alice, who has been singing and performing since a young age, also auditioned for a place at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, in Cardiff.

Alice’s father, Mike, 58, said: “At her BRIT School audition, Alice was told not to get her hopes up due to the huge amount of people who applied, but when she got the letter we were over the moon for her. It’s fantastic.

“This has been her dream since she was ten years old. She’s sang and performed in Russia, South Africa, and had lead parts in school productions.”
