A newly-opened pub in Bargoed has received a “fantastic reception” during its first month of trade, owners have said.
The Square Royale opened its doors on High Street, Bargoed, last month by owners Russell and Adele Sorrell.
With a focus on good food and craft ales, the pub also hosts live music on Friday and Sunday evenings.
Mr Sorrell said: “I am delighted with the fantastic reception that our new venture has received since opening in Bargoed town centre. We cater for the whole family with good food, fine ale and fantastic entertainment. The Square Royale is also available for bookings, groups, parties and take away dinners”.
Caerphilly County Borough Council’s planning committee approved Mr Sorrell’s application to convert the former bank chamber back in April, after an objection was initially lodged regarding nine vacant flats above the premises.
However, permission was granted on the condition that Mr Sorrell installed sound insulation, after no objections were returned from consultations with the 22 people living closest to the pub.
Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning and Sustainable Development said: “I am thrilled that The Square Royale pub has opened in Bargoed town centre.
“The pub has already proved popular with many local residents and I look forward to seeing the business progress”.
