with an award for her long service to the Labour Party
Islwyn MP Chris Evans has hailed the achievements of a Labour stalwart who has dedicated 60 years of her life to the party.
Beryl Banwell, who will celebrate her 94th birthday in October, was recently awarded the Labour Party’s long service award in front of family and friends at Oakdale Nursing Home.
Mr Evans said: “Mrs Banwell has demonstrated not only a commitment to the Labour party for the past six decades but to her whole community.
“Ultimately whatever our politics we get involved for one reason: to make the place we live in better for everyone.
“This is the principle which has driven Mrs Banwell for so many years. I was proud and very honoured to present the award.”
