Fire crews attended a house in Hengoed after a firework was posted through the letter box at around 2am on Monday October 10.

An Aberbargoed crew from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service noted that there were scorch marks and charring on the door, but a fitted fireguard on the letter box prevented any further damage.

So the annual menace of firework silly season has started and will continue for the next six weeks, come on Welsh Government get off your idle backsides and do something about it, fireworks need to be banned from general sale and only used at licenced displays. It is beyond comprehension that in this day and age explosives are on general sale, time to put an end to the misery, damage and nuisance that fireworks cause, come on Welsh Assembly Members make yourselves useful and do something about it.
