Schools, venues, shops and cafes around Caerphilly County Borough supported cancer charity Macmillan’s Big Coffee Morning on Friday September 30, raising large amounts of money in the process.
Solicitors Glamorgan Law celebrated raising over £600 at its Caerphilly office in Market Street.
Local schools, Hendre Infants, Crumlin Primary, and Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Allta also contributed to the UK-wide fundraiser, dubbed the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Delyth Williams, head teacher at Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Allta in Ystrad Mynach said: “Our coffee morning was a huge success, seeing us raise a fantastic £300 for Macmillan Cancer.
“I would like to thank everyone for taking part and also to the school council for organising the whole event.”
Llancaiach Fawr Manor, near Nelson, raised £160 at their coffee morning, while Caerphilly County Borough Council displayed a range of baked goods from Castell Howell Foods, Garth Bakery Limited and Woosnam Diaries at their Penallta House offices, raising £312.
Susan Morris, head of services for Macmillan Cancer Support in Wales, thanked all those who raised money for the charity.
She said: “We have loved seeing so many fantastic photos of cakes over social media. This year has seen some wonderfully creative cakes and events.
“But more than that, we have loved seeing families, friends, colleagues and communities coming together for a coffee, a slice of cake and a chat in support of Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
“Last year, we raised more than £26m – a total we hope to have beaten in 2016.”
