Firework season is upon us and Caerphilly town, Bargoed and Blackwood all have organised firework displays for the public to enjoy.

This year’s display at Caerphilly Castle will begin at 7pm on Saturday, November 5.

The free show, organised by Caerphilly Town Council, will be collecting charitable donations for Caerffili Lions and the Wales Air Ambulance.

The town council would like to thank Van; Bedwas, Trethomas and Machen; Aber Valley; Llanbradach and Pwll-y-Pant; Penyrheol; and Trecenydd and Energlyn community councils for their financial support, and Cadw for allowing the display to be held at the castle.

Blackwood Rugby Club will be holding its firework display on Friday, November 4, at Glan Yr Afon Park.

Doors will open at 6pm for a 7pm prompt start with admission costing £3 for adults and £2 for children with babies and toddlers free.

Burgers, hotdogs and refreshments will be available at reasonable prices.

Bargoed’s free display, organised by Bargoed Town Council, will be held at Hanbury Road car park on Friday, November 4, at 6pm with the display starting at 6.30pm.

Event closes at 8pm, with free children’s rides from 6.15pm.

Organisers have said no alcohol or sparklers are permitted on site. Refreshments will be available.

For the more adventurous, there is a walk up Twmbarlwm on Saturday, November 5, to enjoy the fireworks from the surrounding valleys (as well as Bristol and Weston).

The annual walk sets off from Cwmcarn Forest Drive at 6pm.

Organisers have advised people to “wrap up nice and warm, and bring a hot flask and torch for this strenuous yet rewarding walk”.

Food and hot drinks will be available at the visitor centre afterwards.

The walk is suitable for ages ten and older and costs £6 per adult and £4 for children.

Organisers have said booking is essential and can be done by calling 01495 272001.
