The annual council-run charity appeal to provide Christmas gifts to local children has been launched.
Operation Santa is Caerphilly County Borough Council’s annual project to support more than 600 local children by providing them with a range of toys and gifts this festive season.
Children who receive the toy donations are not helped by any other appeal, and have been nominated by social workers who work with families across the county borough.
People can pledge to buy a gift for a child by calling 01443 866577, or by emailing operationsanta@caerphilly.gov.uk.
Pledge lines opened on Tuesday November 1, and will close on Wednesday November 30.
Gifts then need to be delivered to one of the collection centres, listed below, by Friday December 2.
Cllr Robin Woodyatt, Cabinet Member for Social Services, said: “Every year we are blown away by the amount of donations people donate, and every year these gifts help spread a little festive cheer to local young people at Christmas.
“On behalf of Caerphilly County Borough Council, I would like to thank everyone who has supported this appeal in the past, and hope we can count on the same level of support once again this year.”
Last year, more than 3,000 gifts were donated by residents, schools, charities, staff and local businesses to the project.
Collection centres are at: Penallta House in Ystrad Mynach; Caerphilly Library; Apex Estate Agents in Bargoed; YMCA Bargoed; Lloyds TSB in Rhymney; Blackwood Housing Office, The Market Place; Barclays Bank in Ystrad Mynach; Risca Family Centre, Risca; Pontlottyn Customer First Centre.
