It may not be to the liking of US President-elect Donald J Trump, but Mexico is the destination of a Caerphilly man embarking on a new career.

Alan Scott, aged 51, ran a successful guitar teaching business for 20 years before public sector funding cuts resulted in him losing his biggest contracts.

The business folded and Alan was left with no job and no other employment options. Having never been out of work, Alan’s life began to fall apart and he sank into severe depression.

Facing homelessness, he visited his local Careers Wales advisor, Phil Roberts, who coached and mentored Alan before signposting him to a course at Ystrad Mynach College to be a teaching assistant.

Alan has since decided to take the qualification abroad, taking a job as a teaching assistant in Mexico.

He said: “A friend of mine who’s been teaching in Mexico for some time suggested I look abroad for teaching roles there. He was convinced I could do the job but I needed the qualification to back it up.

“I passed the course, applied for the job, had a Skype interview, and here we are – moving to Mexico.”

What has this got to do with US President Elect Mr Donald Trump? Seems it’s fashionable with the media to include him in any news story if at all possible, any tenuous link will do, fairly lame and lazy journalism. I’m pretty sure Mr Trump couldn’t care less about Mr Scott going to work in Mexico.
