Firefighters have successfully tackled a large blaze at an industrial estate involving 100 tonnes of plastic.

About 30 firefighters fought the blaze at the Heads of the Valley’s Industrial Estate after being called at around 2.50pm today, Wednesday, November 23.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the PVC material is outside a building and have advised nearby residents to keep windows closed because of the thick black smoke.

The fire had been put out by 5.45pm.

A total of six fire engines and three water bowsers were used.
