Residents across Caerphilly County Borough have been getting into the festive spirit, with over 10,000 visiting recent Christmas markets.

Markets at Blackwood, on Saturday December 3, and Caerphilly on the weekend of December 10 and 11, saw over 100 traders man a variety of stalls selling cheese, ale, jewellery, fudge, jams, pies, craft sets, decorations and gifts.

Traders reported high sales, with some stalls even selling out of produce as visitors stocked up for Christmas.

The funfair and Santa’s Grotto was enjoyed by hundreds of children, with live reindeer proving particularly popular.

Cllr Ken James Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning and Sustainable Development said: “I am delighted that Caerphilly Christmas Market has been such a huge success for yet another year. It is brilliant to see this event grow in popularity each year, providing an important boost to local traders and the visiting market stalls alike. Thank you to everyone who made the market such a huge success”.
