A motorcyclist has suffered serious head injuries in a crash on the A472 near Newbridge.

Police were called at around 10am this morning and found the male motorcyclist in the road near the Maesycwmmer turn-off.

The A472 was closed for several hours between the A457 at The Otter Public House, and the junction with the A4048 at Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith.

Chief Inspector Daniel Taylor, of Gwent Police, said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Always wanted to try a motorbike but too many news reports like this puts me off, our roads are in poor condition to tackle on four wheels let alone two, and too many car drivers do not look properly at road junctions and are oblivious to motorbikes.
