UPDATE 11.52am: Alan Fletcher, Wales & West Utilities Operational Manager for Caerphilly said: “We were alerted to reports of a gas leak in the Fair View Road area of Blackwood this morning, January 26, and immediately sent an engineering team to the scene.
“On arrival, we found that a road traffic collision had damaged a gas service pipe supplying a home in the area, resulting in a small gas leak. As a precaution, the emergency services initially closed Fair View Road.
“Our engineers worked to repair the damage and the emergency services have reopened the road.
“If anyone smells gas, thinks they have a gas leak, or suspects carbon monoxide poisoning, they should call us on 0800 111 999 and our engineers will be there to help, day or night.”

UPDATE 11.20am: A spokeswoman for Gwent Police has said that the gas leak has been sealed and residents have returned to their homes.
An external gas pipe was damaged as a result of the collision between three cars – one of which was stationary. Three people were taken to hospital, but none suffered any serious injuries.
The road was reopened at around 11am.

A section of road in Pengam has been cordoned off by emergency services after a car hit an external gas pump earlier this morning.
At around 8.30am on Thursday January 26, two South Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Aberbargoed were called to the B4254 Fair View in Pengam, where it is believed three cars were involved in a crash, with one colliding with an external gas pump.
The collision has caused a gas leak, and emergency services have cordoned off a 350 square metre area while engineers work to stop the spillage.
