Residents have been reminded to remain wary after the council was made aware of a telephone scam.
A resident from Nelson contacted Caerphilly County Borough Council after receiving a phone call from someone reporting that they could reduce her council tax band in return for an upfront £63 payment.
Cllr Nigel George, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Public Protection, said: “This phone call was in no way associated with Caerphilly County Borough Council and I would like to thank the resident for bringing this to our attention, in order to make other residents aware.
“Never give bank or personal details to anyone that you do not know or trust and if in any doubt at all, please contact our Trading Standards team for advice”.
