Police are enforcing a dispersal order across areas of Fleur-de-Lys and Bargoed this weekend, in an attempt to curb anti-social behaviour.
From 5.30pm today (Friday March 17), Gwent Police is introducing a 48-hour dispersal order across Bargoed and Fleur-de-Lys after they claimed a small minority of people were causing alarm and distress to local residents.
In Bargoed, the order covers Cardiff Road, Bargoed Gateway, West Street, Hanbury Road, North Road, North road Car park, Capel Street, High Street, Bargoed Bus Station, Angel Way, Bargoed Train Station and car park, Francis Street, Upper High Street, Bristol terrace, Greenfield Street, Morrisons, Morrisons car parks, Station Road, and Cross Street.
In Fleur-de-Lys: High Street, Ivor Street including the footpath which runs between Ivor Street and A4049, Tre-lyn Lane, Tre-lyn Court, Gwent Court.
Officers will be patrolling the area and will have the authority to direct anyone behaving anti-socially away from the area. If they return to that area after being moved on, they face being arrested.
Any anti-social activity can be reported to Gwent Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
I would like to know who is going to police this dispersal order? We don’t see the police patrolling now so i can’t see them patrolling these areas, just because this order is in place. These problem arose because of lack of police on the beat, we need police out walking like in my day not flitting around in police cars. I wonder if we will see those community officers about now in this area. They seem to b few and far between now and when you do see them, they are driving around. And as far as if you see anti social behaviour to report it, I have enough problems contacting Gwent police normally. Thy never turn up or thy send those wardens from the council. Cut backs has effected policing in these areas just has they have in Caerphilly. My sister lives in Bargoed and see never sees the police. And if it’s anything like the order thy had in Caerphilly it doesn’t work, it’s great short term, long term it hasn’t made any difference at all.
We are paying council tax for nothing – if the Police and Council wardens were patrolling we’d see them.
I live in East View Terrace and in fairness always saw a council warden patrolling regularly – he’d always stop and chat and take on board any concerns we had – but I haven’t seen him for 2-3 months
The police seem to feel the need to publicise all that they are doing on social media – if they were patrolling these areas the public would see them they wouldn’t need to tell us on social media what they are doing.
