A retail development in Pengam is nearing full occupancy after national chain Howdens Joinery opened a unit there.

Pinewood Court, developed on disused industrial land around 18 months ago, now boasts lets by several national retailers including Screwfix Direct and HSS Tool Hire.

The long-term lease by Howdens represents a turnaround for the site, which initially struggled to attract national retailers.

The addition of Howdens has attracted further national occupier interest from the likes of Toolstation and Greggs.
Daniel Jones, of Caerphilly-based Brinsons, acted for the landlord Capels, while Andrew Veitch of Montagu Evans acted for the tenant.

Mr Jones, of Brinsons, said: “We are pleased to announce that Howdens Joinery have completed a long-term lease on a unit of circa 9,300 sq ft at Pinewood Court – a new industrial/trade counter development recently constructed by a retained client.

“Remaining space available on site is circa 2,712 sq ft which could be sub-divided to provide two smaller trade counter units with shop fronts circa 1,356 sq ft each.

“Brinsons have provided the landlord with advice from the acquisition of the site through to formal lease completion and have assisted the landlord in securing 12 new tenants occupying circa 45,000 sq ft including multiple national occupiers.”
