Proposals to site a mobile phone mast in Bargoed have been dropped after residents and local politicians expressed their opposition.
Telecommunications companies Arqiva and CITL, wanted to erect antennas at the Telephone Exchange on Baldwin Street, Bargoed.
Residents submitted a petition outlining their opposition to the plans with the support of local councillors Tudor Davies, David Carter and Dianne Price, and it has since been announced that the proposals will not go ahead.
Caerphilly MP, Wayne David, said: “I am delighted about this news. This is a victory for local people.
“Legitimate concerns were expressed and I am pleased that those concerns were listened to and acted upon.”
