Plaid Cymru MEP Jill Evans has called for the negotiations on the UK’s withdrawal from the EU to be as open as possible so that voters can get the facts about the discussions.
Ms Evans said:“The time has come for openness and honesty. The negotiations on the UK’s withdrawal from the EU will have a massive impact on our future.
“People must know what is being said and done. It would be totally unacceptable for the talks to be held behind closed doors.”
The British people voted to leave the EU – the question was asked, arguments for and against were put forward, the vote was cast and the result was to leave. What happens in negotiations is really of no consequence, we the people have no say in those negotiations, sometime after March 2019 we will be out of the EU and our MEPs like Jill Evans will no longer be riding the EU gravy train.
Absolutely correct – if it had been up to Plaid Cymru we would not have been given a vote on the EU at all.
We need to nNegotiate hard with Europe, because mark my words thy will not give us an easy ride and will make us pay. I think the only leader for this is thersa may, corbyn will sell us well sort and the liberal party would be even softer or even worst go for another referendom. I agree we need openess but we have voted out and this must be remembered.
I honestly think the Great Panjandrums of the EU have no intention of meaningful negotiations as they are all appointed without fear of being supplanted by others in an election.
My view is that as we are not invited to meetings we should immediately cease all payments to the EU and once again become a self governing country. If the EU wish to negotiate a free trade agreement we should welcome this, if they would prefer to deal with us on World Trade Organisation terms that is fine, hurts them more than us. That is what we voted in favour of last year. There was no nonsense talk of ‘hard’ or ‘soft’ Brexit then and nor should there be now. We are leaving, bye, bye corrupt, anti democratic EU.
We voted to leave the EU and must now leave the politicians carry out negotiations on our behalf – Jill Evans and many other politicians and citizens of the UK are deluded if they think negotiations will be publicised as they progress – so that the public can moan and whinge ?
