Caerphilly community turns green with planting event

News | | Published: 11:00, Friday June 2nd, 2017.

A newly-formed Caerphilly community group will be getting green-fingered and grubby during a planned planting event.

The Castle View Community group have organised the collective event on Saturday June 10 with a focus on improving the area around the nearby lake, and several roundabouts.

Supported by environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy, the group have previously enjoyed successful litter picks, and hope the planting event will “facilitate social inclusion.”

Claire Illari from the Castle View Community Group said: “We have the passion, the tools and an energetic group of volunteer residents of all ages.

“Groundwork to prepare the soil for a successful plant will be in progress soon and we will be making a plan of action for our plant at our next Community Group Meeting.

“We are committed to improving the well-being of residents through local improvement initiatives, communication and facilitating social inclusion.”

The day will involve the ground preparation, sowing seeds, and feature tables for potting plants. Food and drinks are also provided.
