Sports clubs and voluntary organisations throughout Caerphilly County Borough are being encouraged to apply for Community Chest funding, with around £34,000 already awarded so far this year.

A maximum of £1,500 per club can be awarded with a total pot of £70,000 available.

Funding can be used for increasing participation in sport or improving standards.

A number of clubs across the borough have benefitted from the funding, including Bargoed Golf Club, who received £1,460 to be used for coach education and equipment costs.

Caerphilly County Swim Squad have also received £1,500 to train their volunteers in a Level 1 qualification and timekeeping course to assist with club development.

Drop-in sessions have been arranged at the Sport Caerphilly offices in Tir-y-Berth Depot on Tuesday August 15 and Wednesday 16, as well as Tuesday October 24 and Wednesday 25, where interested clubs and organisations can receive more information and fill in application forms.

To book a slot, contact Carly Jones, Sport Development Officer on 01495 235367 or jonesc27@caerphilly.gov.uk.
