Concrete repairs to a rail bridge in Gilfach are set to be completed by August 22, Caerphilly County Borough Council has confirmed – with the bridge closed until then.
Work on the bridge, which crosses the Rhymney Valley railway line at Cardiff Road, just north of Lewis School Pengam, had bee scheduled to end on July 14.
However, the council has said because of “complexities” the timescale had to be extended with a closure in place from 10pm tonight, Monday, August 14, until 6am on Tuesday, August 22.
All buses on routes 14, 27, 50, C9, C17 and X38 will not be able to serve any bus stops in Gilfach. The council will arrange a replacement shuttle bus service to run along Cardiff Road, Gwerthonor Place, Commercial Street, Park Place, and Gilfach Street so passengers can connect with their regular bus services.
Towards Bargoed buses will stop at Glan-y-nant (Lewis School) then operate via Angel Way to Hanbury Square.
From Bargoed buses will serve Bargoed Interchange then operate via Angel Way to Glan-y-nant.
A free bus service provided by NAT Group will operate between Gilfach (Petrol Station) and Bargoed Interchange (and vice-versa) stopping at all bus stops along the main road in Gilfach.
