A soft play centre near Blackwood is planning to invest in more staff and facilities to meet growing demand, thanks to a Business Support Grant administered jointly by Caerphilly County Borough Council and Tata Steel subsidiary UK Steel Enterprise.

Tumble Jaks soft play centre in Pengam was launched by Cerys Mayne last year and has proved a hit with youngsters and parents alike.

The centre has grown since opening and now employs seven members of staff who provide a safe, enjoyable environment for children of all ages who come along to play and enjoy parties with their friends.

Hot and cold food is available for children and adults and the venue works hard to offer themed events to help youngsters make the most of their time there.

The Business Support Grant of £500 provided by Caerphilly County Borough Council and UK Steel Enterprise has enabled Managing Director, Cerys Mayne, to buy kitchen equipment. She said: “We were very grateful for it, and for the other support we have received. We are definitely looking to expand and take on more staff in the future.”

Cllr Sean Morgan, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Economy said: “I urge any businesses within the county borough interested in applying for funding to visit the Caerphilly Council website where there is a wealth of information on how to apply for business grants.”

Martin Palmer of UK Steel Enterprise said: “It is excellent to see this venture thriving and creating jobs in the local community.”
