A Pontllanfraith supermarket which raised more than £4,600 for an animal rescue charity has thanked its customers for their generosity.

The Sainsbury’s store on Newbridge Road, Pontllanfraith, presented Four Paws Animal Rescue with a cheque for £4,605 which was raised during the rescue’s time as the chosen charity of the year during 2016/17.

Earlier this month, Sainsbury’s announced it will support the Matthew Walklin’s Make A Smile Foundation as its next partner.

The charity was set up in memory of Blackwood man, Matthew Walklin, who died from a rare form of testicular cancer in 2012.
