Last year’s MegaRun Castle to Castle attracted 75 runners and is set to be eclipsed this year with an expected 200 taking part

More than 200 runners are expected to take part in a charity run from Caerphilly Castle to Cardiff Castle this Sunday.

Organised by running club Caerphilly Runners, the MegaRun Castle to Castle event is being held on September 10, in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre as a sister event to the annual Megaday music festival.

The 11-mile run, via the Taff Trail, will be started at 10am by Olympic silver medallist and world champion runner Jamie Baulch with a warm-up scheduled for 9.45am. Participants are advised to get to the event’s start on Crescent Road, Caerphilly town, for 9.30am.

Stuart Buswell, secretary of Caerphilly Runners, said: “Anybody can run on the day by giving a £10 donation online via JustGiving beforehand, although Sport Caerphilly are supporting us well and will be able to take any last minute donations.”

Last year’s event, which attracted around 75 runners, managed to raise more than £2,100 and this year it has already raised almost £3,400.

Donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/megarun2017 and for more information on the event please visit the Caerphilly Runners website.
