An 11-year-old girl was approached by a man in a red car in Trethomas, Gwent Police has said.

The girl was walking along Llanfabon Drive, Trethomas, at around 6pm on Thursday, October 5, when the driver of a small red car approached her and asked her to get in.

The girl ran to her friends before calling her parents.

A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: “Whilst this was distressing for the girl, we would like to stress she was not harmed at all.

“Officers are investigating and are patrolling the local areas. They are keen to speak to the male driver of the red vehicle who is described as in his 40s or 50s with balding hair and of large build.

“If you were in the area and saw this vehicle, or if you have any information that could help with our enquiries, please call 101 quoting log 520 5/10/17. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
