A man is due to appear in court accused of stabbing a passenger on a Rhymney-bound train.
Christopher Evans, 42, from River Road in Pontlottyn, was remanded in custody by British Transport Police after being charged with one count of occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of possession of an offensive weapon.
He is due to appear before Newport Magistrates’ Court today, Monday, October 16.
The incident happened on board the 4.02pm Arriva Trains Wales service travelling between Penarth and Rhymney on Friday, October 13.
Police said that shortly before 5.30pm there was a disturbance on board the train and that the victim of the assault suffered injuries consistent with being stabbed in the chest.
The man in his 20s was treated by paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service and was taken to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr for further treatment. He is said to be in a serious but stable condition.
A 39-year-old man also arrested has been released with no further action.
Lets hope he has a very long time in prison.
